Pitre Equity Research, LLC is an independent research firm providing quality objective research for public companies by a team of experienced academics. Our mission is to help our clients be more secure about investing in new and or undiscovered companies. Research excellence is the key to realizing this mission, so we've devoted tremendous resources to our investment research effort. Unlike Wall Street investment banks and brokerages, we are completely independent. We only publish investment research. We do not provide brokerage services or manage money.
The traditional investment research community faces unprecedented scrutiny in response to potential conflicts of interest created by coverage with subjective ratings and pro forma target prices. As a result, Wall Street research departments have been dramatically downsized over the past several years, with the total number of analysts reduced by 40%. Consequently, thousands of quality companies (approximately 60% of all public companies) are now deprived of research attention and analyst coverage. Further, many that do have coverage are followed only by those investment banks that act as their underwriters.
